Privacy Policy
Last updated October 3, 2026
This policy explains how TalkTogether handles information when you use the app. TalkTogether is intended only for people aged 18 or older.
Information we collect
- Account and profile information: your email address and sign-in identifiers when you use email, Google, or Apple; guest accounts receive an anonymous identifier. We also store your display name, avatar, gender selection, date of birth, and unique TalkTogether ID. Your date of birth is private and is not displayed to other users.
- Profile information: your display name, avatar, languages, and preferences.
- Conversation data: messages, room activity, images, GIFs, voice messages, delivery status, blocks, and reports.
- Location: approximate location when you choose nearby matching or distance filters. Your exact location is not shown to other users.
- Call data: technical information needed to connect voice, video, and screen-sharing sessions. TalkTogether does not record call media as part of the current service.
- Technical data: authentication sessions, device and network information, errors, and security events needed to operate and protect the service.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate users, provide matching and rooms, deliver messages and media, operate calls, synchronize profiles, enforce safety rules, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, and comply with law.
Service providers
Supabase provides authentication, database, realtime, storage, and server functions. LiveKit provides realtime voice, video, and screen-sharing infrastructure. Google and Apple process information when you choose their sign-in methods. These providers handle data under their own terms and privacy policies.
Sharing
Your profile, room presence, messages, and content are shared with the people and rooms you choose. Approximate-distance features may reveal that you are within a selected radius, but not your exact coordinates. We do not sell personal information.
Retention and deletion
We retain information while your account is active and as needed for security, safety, and legal obligations. You can delete your account in Settings. Account deletion removes your profile, memberships, messages, uploads, blocks, and reports from active systems, subject to limited backups and legal retention.
Your choices
You can use a guest account, disable nearby discovery, manage read receipts and online status, change your profile, block users, report safety issues, sign out, or delete your account. iOS Settings controls camera, microphone, photo, and location permissions.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted transport and iOS Keychain session storage. No system is completely secure. Our providers may process data in countries other than yours.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service changes and will revise the date above. Questions or privacy requests can be sent through the app.
